Episode 2; Every Man’s Tale
It was yet another day, the reality of the hustle and bustle of Lagos hit her. There she was at the bus stop struggling with a sardine of people in an almost mission impossible. She has always resented the population in Lagos especially the early morning crisis for transport. She stared hungrily at every bus that made a stop until she quickly jumped into one not minding the insults rained at her from the background.
Haha ha ha!!!,she heard a man laugh really loud as she tried to settle in. “So fine girls dey fight for bus sef”.She wished she could have his face on her palm, but ignored him and sat quietly. She caught his gaze and wandered why his eyes yearned for affirmation. She smiled as no one found him a comedian, “who is the fool” now she mumbled under her breathe. The scenery outside the window caught her eyes; the favorite part of her everyday drive to work, the vendor’s shop”. She loved to watch people gather around tossing newspapers at each other and screaming there opinions to the wind ,but her best part yet was the vendors display and imitation of different newscasters .He was indeed a funny man no wonder he had many customers. “Conductor oo, you neva give me change” she was soon distracted by the loud clamoring’s of other passengers, everybody’s dejavu, she said to herself
She made her way to the front desk and quickly exchange pleasantries with the receptionist and was heading to her office only to met the firm gaze of Jide.’ Oooooooooh nooooo ,not today please not him again’. Hey! Beautiful, you look good he said with a disgusting smirk on his face. Jide was one nightmare she had to face everyday, the overly pompous ,shape shifting and psychologically demented man whose obsession was as creepy as the sight of hair on Dangote’s head. Everything about him was wrong ,at least if he was nice one would over look how hideous he was on clothes. She wished her thoughts were loud enough for him to hear, but with him standing there she could only manage a fake smile and cough out compliments that made her mouth sour. These would be a right time for Muna to show up ,she thought to herself.
Ellen!!there you are ,I have been to your office twice now, I have never known you to be late, she smiled sheepishly.” Mr. Jide I will be seeing you around ,Ellen said as she briskly walked to her office with Muna on her trail. She collapsed into her chair in relief ,”thank you Muna ,I owe you one”. Ellen you don’t need to thank me , I can’t stand his gut and oversized shoes. After a long pause ,as if they went wide with imaginations, they busted out in laughter.
