Covenant University celebrates Founders Day; Commissions new Multi-Million Naira Stadium
The Chancellor and Vice Chancellor, Covenant University and the management team were all present including the kings and Queens; Students of Covenant University at the 16th Founders day Celebration of the University.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor A.A.A Atayero, in his opening speech said that he is glad to be part of the award winning university and he said that, He started his career in the University as Lecturer 2, but now an award winning Vice Chancellor in Nigeria. He admonished students to work harder as they team up in accomplishing Vision 10:2022.
The Chancellor, Dr. David Oyedepo, who initially was angered by the lateness of student to the gathering, in his speech, warned all students of the penalty involved if the same was to repeat itself. He also gave the word, admonishing Faculty, Staff and Students to be humble and to return all the glory to God for all achievements they get. He said that “It takes meekness to command greatness, cause it is grace that actualizes greatness”. He also admonished students to build capacity as capacity building is a life long task for everyone that wants to remain relevant in life. He said “Every leader is a learner, and every learning leader is a leading leader.
Afterwards, the Chancellor and the Vice Chancellor moved to commission the newly built 6,500 capacity University Stadium, were the Covenant University team played the Covenant university Alumni team in a football match that ended in a draw, 2:2. Students and Faculty also participated in other games like the relay races and tog of war.
