Obafemi Awolowo University commences Exams despite Strike actions by ASUU
The 2017/2018 Examinations for second semester began in Obafemi Awolowo University, popularly known for the acronym OAU despite the ongoing strike action by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Some Students showed their displeasure while some others appreciated the fact that the university had pulled out recently from the union and could carry out their academic activities.
The Union, led by Biodun Ogunyemi, had started the strike action since November with the aim to increase funding of universities and implementation of agreements.
While other academic activities were suspended in other universities like the University of Lagos and University of Ibadan, departments in OAU carried on because they had lecturers who were not members of ASUU.
Although the strike is still ongoing, it is said that the union had made fresh demand and we still await the result of the series of meetings with the Federal Government.
